Marriage

God created man and woman out of love and commanded them to imitate his love in their relations with each other. Man and woman were created for each other…Woman and man are equal in human dignity, and in marriage both are united in an unbreakable bond. (United States Catholic Catechism for Adults, Ch. 21, p. 279)

Marriage

For Catholics, the Sacrament of Marriage, or Holy Matrimony, is a public sign that one gives oneself totally to this other person. It is also a public statement about God: the loving union of husband and wife speaks of family values and also God's values.

If you are interested in hosting your wedding here at St Francis of Assisi Parish, we welcome you. Please notify us at least 6 months in advance of your wedding date in order to properly prepare for your special day.

You will first need to contact the Parish Office to set up a meeting with our pastor, Fr. Dick Hayatsu. Then you will contact Janet Seidl, our wedding coordinator. Janet will be with you after you meet with Father until the day of your wedding, to guide you through the process.

Marriage Preparation

You will be required to attend either one of these two programs:

Catholic Engaged Encounter, Marriage Preparation for Engaged Couples in the Archdiocese of Seattle.
Engaged Encounter is an investment in the future; a weekend in which an atmosphere is created for the two of you to concentrate exclusively on each other, free of the tensions, pressures and interruptions of daily living. It focuses on communication in your relationship. You’ll learn new tools for listening, writing, and enriching your communication with each other. The weekends are being offered as Virtual Conferences at the present time.
