Poverty and the Vincentian:

"You have the poor with you always " (Matt. 26:11).
The Vincentian is at their service. He does not judge; he is available.

“Vincentians endeavor to establish relationships based on trust and friendship. Conscious of their own frailty and weakness, their hearts beat with the heartbeat of the poor. They do not judge those they serve. Rather, they seek to understand them as they would a brother or sister.” (Confederation of St Vincent de Paul, 2003)

The Vincentian way of life is a truly Catholic vocation – seeking out our neighbors who are facing adversity and meeting them in their homes with respect, trust, and compassion.

“We live in a region with great wealth and great poverty. There is need all around us — material need and spiritual need. So many people look to us for help. So many people are hungry for good news.”

– Archbishop Etienne, 2023
