Class of 1980 Reunion
The Class of 1980 held a 26 year reunion the weekend of 29/30 April 2006. The Saturday night event was a cocktail/dinner event at St. Francis. The party started in Unity Place, with 24 classmates and their spouses in attendance. The Classmates were primarily from within Washington but some had traveled from Montana and California for the event. There were also five teachers who had taught the class of 1980 in attendance as well. These attendees were Mrs. Grohman, Mrs. O'Sullivan, Ms. (Dr. now) Gamache, Mr. Rispoli and Mrs. Canniff. Special appreciation to all these teachers who attended and a special thanks to Ms./Dr. Gamache who flew in from Colorado for this event.
The Satruday evening event started with drinks and a tour of the school/family event center. The tour was led by Jean Walz, daughter of Mrs. Helen Walz who was both the principal and a teacher for the class of 1980. The group then moved back to Unity place for a dinner catered by Angelo’s. After dinner the class' own Jeff Pearson performed a spur of the moment comedy routine using their 8th grade Wills and Testaments as fodder. Soon, it was time to leave Unity Place and a subset of folks continued the party at Rudy's in Burien. On Sunday, April 30th, there was a picnic at Lincoln Park that drew some of the Saturday night crowd, plus 2 attendees that had not been able to attend the prior evening. Special thanks to Dave Vranizan, Chuck Bergseth and Gretchen Kurth who planned the events, and special thanks to St Francis School and Church for all their support. Both events were considered a success and there was plenty of talk about having our next one!
Class of 1961 Reunion
The Class of 1961 held a reunion at St. Francis on September 24th, 2005. The event was held in Parish Hall, with 30 classmates and their spouses attending. It was a time to renew friendships and share memories of “days gone by”. Barbara McCauley Lewis, Sally Lewis Messex, Rose Proszek Wagenman & Diane Sorrels Franson planned the event and Jim Ewart was the MC. This class was the first 1st-grade class at St. Francis School. Five former teachers attended and everyone felt that Parish Hall was the perfect place to meet - it was small and intimate; the perfect setting for sharing memories. This class seems to like 22 years - their last reunion was their 22nd year reunion in 1983 and this year was their 44th year reunion. They hope to get together again before another 22 years go by!
