Math: In Kindergarten through third grade, there is a heavy emphasis on math manipulatives and the basics of math. Starting in fourth grade, students are leveled in math, with three groups per grade level. Students who struggle in math are placed in a small group, designed to give them the maximum amount of support. The groups are flexible; if a student is having difficulty at one level during the year, that student will be moved to a group that is more appropriate for his/her ability. So too, the child who begins to excel can be moved to a more advanced group at any time.
Math clubs in grades four through eight provide enrichment and reinforcement of the math curriculum.
