A Stewardship Parish
Our mission as St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish is to worship together in faith, live with love, promote justice, and serve the needs of the parish and wider community.
Stewardship
“Christian stewardship takes a positive view on money. It sees money not only as a medium of exchange but as a symbol of the person who has it. The way we acquire it, use it, and share it; we are revealed in those actions.” Joseph Chaplin, Grateful Caretakers of God’s many Gifts, p.45
Prayer of St. Francis
“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.
“Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love;
for it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned; and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.”
Parish History
The Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish in the community of Seahurst, Washington began when Father John Francis Gibbony proposed the construction of a new church in 1929. Completed in April 1930, the original building is still in use today and has been joined with several additional structures.
The parish campus now contains the original church building which houses the parish office and parish meeting hall; a rectory for resident and visiting clergy; a new church building with unity place activity center and kitchen facilities; a state accredited school consisting of two class rooms each from grades K - 12; and most recently a state of the art family center/gymnasium.
