Faith Formation

St. Francis of Assisi Parish Faith Formation programs foster love and devotion to the person of Jesus Christ and his Church by reaching out to all with the Gospel message, building a loving community and providing opportunities for fruitful service.

Adult Programs

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA):  Designed for adults interested in learning about the history, tradition, practices and beliefs of the Roman Catholic Faith.  The emphasis of this program is on initiation into the sacramental and liturgical life of the Church. Please see the RCIA page for more details.

Youth Programs

Confirmation:  The last sacrament of initiation received, Confirmation, is required prior to marriage in the Catholic Church.  The youth classes are open to youth aged 16 through 19 who are at least a Junior in High School. Check the Confirmation web page for more details.   Please see our  Confirmation page for more details. Older adults may receive sacramental preparation through RCIA.

Edge:  Edge is a fun-filled and fast-paced middle school youth program.  Open to all 6th through 8th grade students, Edge meets in Unity Place on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:30.  Please see the Edge page for more details.

Life Teen:  Open to 9th through 12th grade students, Life Teen is more than just a youth group.  Life Teen helps open the hearts and minds of teens to the wonder and gift of their lives.  Life Teen meets in the Parish Hall following the 5:00 P.M. Sunday evening Mass, approximately 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Please see our Life Teen pages for more details.

Teen Service Mission: All senior high teens are welcome (grades 8 through 11) to experience Service Mission. You do not have to be a St. Francis parishioner. However, we encourage you to participate in the St. Francis of Assisi Youth Programs (EDGE or Life Teen).
For more information on 2011 Service Mission, go to our Teen Mission page.

Childrens's Programs

Rite of Christian Initiation:  Designed for children age seven and older whose families are entering the Church via RCIA, or for Roman Catholic families with children age seven or older who have not been baptized, this class is an introduction into the faith and life of Jesus Christ as experienced in the Roman Catholic Church.  With their consent, those children who complete the program will be received into the Roman Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil. Please see the RCIC page for more details.

Children’s Faith Formation Classes:  Using the Archdiocesan-approved program, Call to Faith,  together with their families, volunteers present the good news of Jesus Christ to children aged 4 through sixth grade.  The seeds of the Catholic faith and God’s love are carefully sown and nurtured in the lives of young parishioners.  Volunteers are always needed in this dynamic and rewarding ministry.  Please contact Cheryl Brooten at 206 242-4575 ext 24 or
